Based on recent announcements, Utah has significantly expanded its Medicaid dental coverage, allowing adults 21 and older to access dental care effective April 1, 2025.
This expansion means an estimated 120,000 additional adult Utahns on Medicaid can now receive services beyond just emergency care.
Key Details of the Utah Expansion (As of April 2025):
Eligibility: Utah Medicaid members 21 and older.
Coverage: Services may include check-ups, X-rays, cleanings every six months, fillings, root canals, extractions, dentures, and crowns.
Provider Network: The state partnered with the University of Utah School of Dentistry (UUSOD). Dr. Stephen Johansen is a provider in this network.
